Proposed day-by-day itinerary

This itinerary is a basis for planning. Hotels, stops and driving schedules must be confirmed for your departure; park access and road conditions may require changes.

Arrival day — San Francisco

Arrange your own transfer and check in to your hotel. Spend your free time at Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 or take a ride on a historic cable car. Overnight in San Francisco.

Day 1 — San Francisco and Silicon Valley

Meet your Russian-speaking guide at the hotel. The proposed city highlights include the Golden Gate Bridge, Twin Peaks, Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard Street, followed by Stanford and selected stops around Silicon Valley campuses. This is a busy day; the exact stops and campus access must be agreed in advance. Overnight in Petaluma.

Day 2 — Napa Valley

Explore the vineyard landscapes of Napa Valley. Wine tastings are arranged in advance and paid for separately. After lunch, continue towards Yosemite National Park. Overnight in Groveland.

Day 3 — Yosemite National Park

Discover the granite cliffs, forests and views of Yosemite Valley, with scenic stops and walks on accessible trails. Waterfall flows vary by season. Glacier Point is subject to road access and the confirmed schedule. Overnight in Clovis.

Day 4 — Giant sequoias and the drive to the coast

Visit Sequoia National Park and the General Sherman Tree. Moro Rock and stops in Kings Canyon are subject to access and a feasible schedule, as a long drive to the coast follows. Overnight in Carmel.

Day 5 — Monterey, Carmel and the Pacific coast

Enjoy 17-Mile Drive, ocean viewpoints and stops around Monterey, then travel south along accessible sections of Highway 1. Scenic stops and an elephant seal viewing area form part of the proposed route. Travel through Big Sur depends on road conditions; an alternative route will be agreed if necessary. Overnight in Solvang.

Day 6 — Solvang, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles

Discover Solvang’s Danish character and enjoy a walk in Santa Barbara. Continue to Los Angeles for selected stops in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. The sightseeing schedule depends on traffic. Overnight in the Redondo Beach area.

Day 7 — La Jolla, San Diego and Arizona

Follow the coast to La Jolla, then explore selected San Diego neighbourhoods, the waterfront and Coronado. Continue to Arizona after sightseeing. Overnight in Yuma.

Day 8 — Arizona landscapes and Sedona

A long drive through Arizona’s desert scenery leads to the red rocks of Sedona. Photo stops and a short walk are chosen to suit the weather and the group. Continue to Williams on historic Route 66. Overnight in Williams.

Day 9 — Grand Canyon and Las Vegas

Visit the Grand Canyon’s South Rim for viewpoints and a walk along an accessible rim trail. Stop in Seligman on Route 66 before crossing into Nevada and discovering Las Vegas in the evening. Overnight in Las Vegas.

Day 10 — Valley of Fire and departure

Visit Valley of Fire and enjoy Las Vegas sightseeing if your departure time permits. Some trails close during the hot season, so the visit format must be agreed separately. Airport transfer and an evening flight; an earlier departure requires a shorter programme or an additional night.
