In the heart of the Old Town, next to the Town Hall Square, is the Niguliste Church, a museum of medieval church art. The museum’s exhibits are truly unique. Here is the "Dance of Death", made for the church by the famous artist Bernt Notke in the late 15th century. This is the only surviving "Dance of Death" written on canvas.

The church has the largest medieval floor seven-candle, 4 m high, and one of the largest altars, 6 m long and 3.5 m high, made in the workshop of the Lübeck master Herman Rode in the 15th century.

Here you can see icons, wooden sculptures, stamped epitaphs and tombstones made in the period from the 13th to the 18th century.

In the silver pantry there are displayed silver church utensils, as well as health cups and other silver products belonging to merchant and craft guilds.

On an hour-long tour you will learn the history of the church and exhibits exhibited in it, as well as interesting legends and biblical stories.

Unfortunately, the exhibits of the museum are not provided with comments in Russian, so it is difficult to understand them without a guide.

The tours are held during the opening hours of the museum.
