The name of the region of France comes from the name of the effervescent or as it was also called in ancient times "divol" wine or wine with a "jumping cork", the secret of a special production technology of which is owned only by Champagne winemakers.

The journey will begin with a trip to wineries and cellars with a must visit the village of Otvillier, the birthplace of champagne. This is the Abbey where the sins of Dom Perignon – Benedictine monk, whose name is named priceless brand of the best French champagne. According to legend, here he made his landmark discovery. This place is imbued with the spirit and aroma of history, which is already three hundred years old.

Epernet is known worldwide as the “Capital of Champagne”. It is the headquarters of the world’s most revered champagne houses: Moet e Chandon, Paul Roger, Perrier-Jouet, Charbod and Mercier. In the northeastern part of flat France, at the very foot of the Rheim Mountains lies the city of Reims.

In ancient times, this place was a settlement of the Celtic tribe of the Rems. During the conquests of Julius Caesar, the inhabitants of Reims supported him. In the fifth century, Bishop St. Remy baptized King Clovis here. Later, Carolingian rulers introduced the custom of coronation ritual in the Reim Cathedral, reminiscent of the biblical anointing of Samuel David, which was followed by all hereditary kings of France, up to Charles X.

You will also see the pearl of French Gothic architecture and the most important Cathedral of France, oddly enough it is not Notre-Dame de Paris, but the Reims Cathedral (Reims Cathedral), located in the heart of the capital Champagne. This cathedral has an inimitable "Smiling Angel", which is the symbol of the city. When we talk about Reims Cathedral, it is impossible not to say the same about the stained glass windows of Marc Chagall, presented to the public in 1974. and were a strong sign of a dialogue between not only the art of perception, but also various religions: Catholicism, Orthodoxy and Judaism.

There are many more interesting things to see in this unforgettable city: the Basilica of St. Remy (Basilica of St. Remigius), where its relics and the Gate of Mars, which have survived since the Romans, still rest, and the inn where Joan of Arc stayed, accompanying in 1429.
