About this offer

What to expect

A day trip to Petra, Jordan, gives you the opportunity to see the most famous and popular tourist attractions of the country - giant red rocks and carved in them temples, monasteries and crypts, forming the legendary "Pink City".

Petra is one of the greatest creations of mankind, since 2007 it has been included in the list of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Tours are regularly held around the city and you can go here from almost any city in Jordan.

This huge height and length of the ancient complex is unique in its kind. Right in the rocks, Petra was cut down by the Nabaitians, a hardworking Arab tribe that settled in the gorge more than two thousand years ago and turned this place into a strategically important center at the intersection of trade routes connecting India, China, the southern Arab states with Egypt, Rome, Greece and Syria. It was here that the Great Silk Road passed and long caravans carried spices westward.

The tour to Petra begins with a road laid along the narrow Sik gorge, the length of which is more than a kilometer.Hiking the gorge can be safely called a separate adventure: on both sides of the road rises rocks, striking the imagination with their unusual color and outlines.

A stunning view of the palace treasury - the Al-Khazna Palace - opens at the end of the gorge. Carved in the rock massive facade - with nothing comparable to the sight, causes awe. It is no wonder to feel like a dwarf in front of an ancient structure 43 meters high.

This palace in Petra was built at the dawn of the first century AD for the Nabatean ruler - as a royal tomb. And today this building embodies the genius of the engineering thought of the ancient people, who created a unique architectural monument, without which it is impossible to imagine a trip to Jordan.

During the excursion to Petra you will learn many other interesting facts about the ancient city and with your own eyes will see grandiose architectural monuments that have no analogues in the world.
